Western India
Shillim estate, a privately owned 2000 acre property, nestled in the western ghats in a flagship project undertaken by the Writer Corporation for wildlife conservation. TMP has been associated with this property since 2017 as their conservation consultants. We have undertaken several conservation projects including an extensive biodiversity survey and awareness programs. The western ghats being a Biodiversity Hostpot is under eminent threat from mining and deforestation Amidst this chaos, shillim has aspires to become a haven for the unique biodiversity of this threatened landscape. We are proud to be actively involved in the conservation efforts through scientific research, ecological restoration, database development and assessment of human animal conflict. From the designing of conservation strategies to its implementation the Mammoth Project is involved with this incredible project at the grassroot level.

Sirpur Lake was well known for being the water source for Indore since 1878. The World Bank report on water crises, Financing Water Crises (2005), documents the use of Sirpur Tank as a water source; however, it is mentioned to have been insufficient for the population since 1991. Further excessive pollution causing various health hazards was noted. Upon the completion of the Narmada water supply project phase II dependence on Sirpur and other lakes/tanks of Indore was observed to have reduced considerably as the project supplied nearly 75% of the population with water. A the dependence reduce settlements along the banks of th lake considerably increased. Studies showed the water quality to have considerably degraded due to presence of hazardous microbial diversity in Sirpur Lake which was reported to be a consequence of sewage water seepage and deposition of waste materials. The quality of the water, other than being hazardous to humans, could also cause a spread of disease in the avian population of Sirpur Lake. The nature volunteers (TNV), o local NGO based out of Indore, took up the fight of conserving this birding haven. The Mammoth Project was consulted for providing a conservation report for the same.
