About Kanha National Park
Kanha Tiger Reserve involves a core area of 940 sq km and a surrounding buffer zone of 1,005 sq km. It is the largest National Park in Central India and has been ranked as one of the best managed parks in Asia. The park is home to the majestic Bengal Tiger and the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book".
The lush sal forests and vast grasslands (meadows) are teeming with wildlife. Kanha is famous for its conservation success story of the Barasingha (Swamp Deer), which was brought back from the brink of extinction. The park offers diverse topography ranging from the Bamni Dadar plateau to the meandering Banjar river.
